Fred is a seasoned technology leader with over 20 years of rich industry experience including working at innovative technology companies and startups, leading technology teams and driving the transformation of technology organizations. Fred has focused on driving alignment of business and technology strategies that optimize both business and IT outcomes in a complex, heterogeneous technology (i.e., legacy and modern technologies) environment. Fred combines both detailed knowledge of modern engineering practices (e.g., DevSecOps) along with broad enterprise architecture skills that enable enterprises to take advantage of modern capabilities while minimizing investment in legacy assets.
Fred most recently served as a Chief Architect for Northwestern Mutual, where he drove the definition and implementation of NM’s business-aligned technology strategy through leading the Enterprise Architecture organization. His work included reducing technology variability through standards and governance, building enterprise assets and capabilities (e.g., API transformation, Enterprise Data), and maturing Enterprise Architecture capabilities in support of modern delivery practices (e.g., Business Architecture, DevSecOps)
Prior to NM Fred has held roles leading engineering, architecture and technology across a range of companies including several technology startups. At Learnvest he played key roles in post-acquisition integration efforts with Northwestern Mutual and as part of their digital transformation before becoming NM’s Chief Architect.
Fred holds an MBA from NYU and a BS in Chemical Engineering from SUNY Buffalo.
Fred lives on Long Island with his wife, two children and two feline companions. He is enthusiastic about taking advantage of the changing seasons to get outside and spend time with his family, from biking with his daughter during the warm months, to hitting the ski slopes with his son in the cold.
