The Challenge
A leading provider of claims and risk management services sought to expand public cloud adoption by each of its divisions. To inform the recalibration of divisional goals for migrating key applications to the cloud, the company needed a review of current-state cloud capabilities and the readiness of select applications to transition and operate effectively on the existing cloud platform.
Project Description
Further Advisory conducted a thorough discovery of the current-state cloud infrastructure and key use case requirements, identifying strategic opportunities to optimize the cloud environment and better enable enterprise-wide adoption.
Outcomes Delivered
- Current-state Assessment: We delivered a detailed analysis of the cloud environment based on interviews and documentation, covering four key dimensions:
- Platform Foundation & Network Architecture
- Service & Controls Environment
- Operations & Automation
- Financial & Contract Management
- Application Enablement Readiness Assessment: Our team evaluated select use cases, analyzing application architecture and cloud migration requirements. Our findings identified critical gaps in the cloud platform, informing the prioritization of enhancements to optimize the cloud environment for future migrations. Ultimately, the results justified advancing the migration of one key application while recommending a strategic pause for others until the cloud foundation evolved to better support them.
- Executive-level Case for Change: Through this work, we articulated the strategic importance of maturing the cloud foundation and implementing an operating model anchored on consistent, leading practices and automation. This equipped leadership with the rationalization to influence investment in cloud capabilities and shape a roadmap that supports efficient application onboarding, long-term operational scalability, and a successful large-scale migration strategy.
