Barry Tooker is a recognized expert in wholesale banking and the payments industry. He has been involved in payment operations, systems transformations, and modernization related projects for global banks and hardware and software firms for decades. Barry has managed day to day operations, as well as planned, organized, directed, and managed major banking initiatives for banks around the world.
Barry is also currently a member US Faster Payments Council where he serves as the Chair of their Cross Border Payments Workgroup and as member of their Operational Considerations for Instant and Immediate Payments Workgroup. He is also a current of the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade (BAFT) Payments Committee and is a past member of their Board of Directors. He was recognized in 2024 and 2022 as one of two BAFT Ambassadors of the Year.
Professional Background
Barry spent his entire career working for banks, hardware and software companies and payments industry consultancies. He has served as a Product Manager for many of the well-known global payment apps, driving business and functional requirements leading to the successful design, development and implementation of these products. Barry has chaired Global Payment Conferences and has been a panelist at global industry payments and compliance events.

Barry is an admittedly less than average golfer, but he keeps on trying. He enjoys travelling with his wife of 50+ years and they have visited numerous countries across five different continents.
