Gavin is an executive designer and strategist with 13 years of experience helping Fortune 500 clients including American Express, Citi, IBM, MetLife, Samsung, and Verizon. As an expert in human factors and user experience design, he’s focused on creating market-defining experiences and compelling customer engagement through digital products, services, and platforms. His industry expertise includes consumer goods, electronic & smart technology, healthcare, insurance, and payments. Led consulting teams that delivered design and innovation strategies. Expert at facilitating collaborative design workshops and guiding clients through the process of developing and implementing go-to-market strategies.

Professional Background

Gavin was director of experience design with IBM defining experience principles and patterns for the Cloud digital property and facilitation of IBM Watson prototyping initiatives with flagship clients. He was also a director at Co: Collective, an innovation strategy consultancy, where among other roles he helped deliver go-to-market for enterprise blockchain technologies and global design thinking strategies for re-imagining international insurance and payments.

Education

Gavin holds a BFA in Communications Design from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY. He’s also a Lecturer in the Information and Knowledge Strategy Graduate Program at Columbia University. He teaches a Digital Product Innovation course on design thinking, user research, and delivering customer-centric digital experiences. Prior to that, Gavin was a Visiting Instructor in the Communications Design department at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY 2012-2018.

In his spare time, Gavin bakes bread, brews a mean rosemary pilsner and spends time outdoors in the Hudson Valley hiking with his dog Maddy.
