Professional Background
Randy is also the founder of Archytas Ascendant, providing advisory services to emerging robotics and automation companies, which has brought his career full-circle. Randy began his career as a software engineer in robotics with Pratt & Whitney, eventually leading a team building United Technologies ‘factory of the future’. Prior, he served as a management consultant for Gartner in the Financial Services industry. For over twenty-five years prior, Randy founded and ran Black Diamond Software, managing large contracts for Fortune 1000 firms seeking leadership and expertise to transform their software development strategy, organization, processes, and technology, including agile, DevOps, and cloud. Randy is currently on the board of The New York Robotics Network and a mentor at The University of Freiburg Founders Club.

Randy holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The Carnegie Mellon School of Engineering and a Master of Science in Manufacturing Engineering from The Carnegie Mellon Robotics Institute.

Randy is an avid tennis player and fan, and after seeing Pope Benedict XVI and Roger Federer in Rome on the same day, he and his two daughters were left wondering, Who is closer to God? When not playing or watching tennis he will often be found in jazz clubs or theatres in New York City.
